Probably not because the attention on social issues usually do not appeal to people other than people in that area. If you were anywhere on a social marketing network site in between March 5, 2012 and right now, you may have heard of the KONY 2012 project. This video surprisingly created virtually an overnight hype due to its appalling  real life contents in an effort to discuss brutality of Ugandans at the mercy of the hands of criminal, Joseph Kony.

Cinematographer, Jason Russell, traveled to Uganda and produced this half-hour long documentary of the Invisible Children of that country.  These children would rather be dead than to do what they are forced to be doing but there is no way to escape the crimes of Joseph Kony. This video was created in order to increase awareness about Joseph Kony and also with the ideal that people would share the video to spread the word.  This video was virally released in order to tell the awful actions of Joseph Kony by the Invisible Children, Inc.

KONY 2012 was a video released online on March 5, 2012, on YouTube initially but later spread to social networking sites and even the organization’s own website. KONY 2012 is an effort to make the awful Joseph Kony famous; not in the ways that celebrities or people with genius ideas are famous but to inform people about the damages incurred by one of the world’s top ranked criminals.  Joseph Kony is a leader within the Lord’s Resistance Army in Uganda, Africa.

KONY 2012 urges that people take initiative and pass along the video that describes the way this horrendous man uses guerrilla tactics to capture people, particularly young children and make them do things such as viciously attack and kill their own families.  They are, in fact, in a living hell.  Another goal of the KONY 2012 viral video project was to make an example out of the situation.  The awareness about Joseph Kony will hopefully create a precedence of what the KONY 2012 website calls, “international justice.”

Within ten days of the release of the KONY 2012 project on the Internet, it had reached over 74 million views on YouTube, Facebook, other social media sites and the organization’s website.  Viewers were appalled at what one evil man could do to diminish humanity in Uganda.  Because of this, they posted the video on their websites, blogs and social media sites in an effort to share information about Joseph Kony. KONY 2012 acquired immediate attention around the world in just a few days.

Since the release of the KONY 2012, many people have not only shared the video but have made other efforts to help with the cause of capturing and arresting Joseph Kony.  Though the KONY 2012 project has received  criticism, the viral video peaked the public interest by showing the brutality of the citizens in Uganda, Africa and the powerlessness they have against this wretched person.  This is an example of social media at its finest with an extremely sad issue behind its motive.  It is proof that word can spread like wildfire online if it appeals to the right audience.  Within 15 days of the video’s viral release, it had received more than 78 million views solely on the YouTube website. The KONY 2012 is currently available in 55 different language and even with subtitles on YouTube.

Also excited to see the keyboard sporting a brand new dictation key that lets you speak instead of type — yes, just like on Android. The new software inside will also let you use the slate as a portable WiFi hotspot… so long as the carriers are game.

The new iPad will be available March 16th, starting at $499 for the 16GB WiFi model and scaling up to $829 for the 64GB version with 4G. So, on the price front, nothing has changed. Pre-orders start today in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia, with much of the rest of the globe to follow on March 23rd.
